Zenith Assists in the Maintenance of the Historic Edinburgh Castle!
With centuries of history, Edinburgh Castle proves to be Scotland’s leading tourist attraction welcoming well over one million visitors every year from all over the world. In fact, the castle is a central part of Edinburgh’s UNESCO World Heritage Site encompassing both the ‘Old and New Towns.’
Zenith is currently employed by Historic Environment Scotland (HES) to support HES’s High Level Maintenance (HLM) division in the inspection of the complete external fabric of the castle’s extensive buildings and protective walls. The exhaustive 51 day inspection programme will encompass all roof structures and masonry (stonework and pointing).
Zenith’s highly qualified rope access technicians, complete with GoPro cameras, provide live video footage to HLM’s inspection engineers at ground level. In addition, when required, Zenith provides IRATA level 3 supervision for HLM’s inspection team.
Connor McCurdy, Director, comments, ‘to be entrusted with such an high level project is a reflection of the trust Historic Environment Scotland has placed in Zenith. We are rightly proud to play our part in the maintenance of such an historic building.’
