Zenith’s Ongoing Commitment to Excellence!

Our highly skilled onsite teams work in demanding industrial environments such as petrochemical, oil, gas and power sectors, adhering to the latest B31.1, BS EN and ASME standards. We provide extensive welding repairs, replacement and installations oftentimes carried out during tight shutdown periods at both low and high levels.

Three members of Zenith’s skilled workforce have successfully attained industry‑standard welding certification issued by SWGR (Scotweld) at our workshop facilities in Midlothian:

Jay Hamilton (Apprentice Steeplejack) MMA Carbon Steel Fillet Weld Test – All Positions

Matthew McKnockiter (Apprentice Welder) MMA Carbon Steel Fillet Weld Test – All Positions

Craig Melrose (Advanced Steeplejack) MMA Dissimilar Metal Fillet Weld Test – All Positions

Jay, aged 16, is the son of Zenith’s Operation Manager, Barry Hamilton, and is successfully progressing to build his own career path within the industry.

Matthew, aged 19, is also continuing a strong family connection at Zenith. His father, Mark McKnockiter, works as a Principal Engineer, and Matthew continues to advance his career in the mechanical field. He has already achieved accreditation across several disciplines and has been applying his skills on-site across a wide range of industrial sectors.

Craig, likewise, follows a family tradition at Zenith, with his brother Kevin Melrose serving as the company’s Scaffold Manager. Craig brings two decades of industry experience and is an Advanced Steeplejack, a Rope Access Operative, and a highly skilled Welder.

By multi-tasking our valued site operatives with advanced welding expertise as well as with other essential disciplines including specialist lifting techniques, combined with specialist steeplejack and rope access capabilities, it enables Zenith to deliver safe and efficient solutions across the oil and gas, power generation, cement, steel and wider industrial sectors. This blend of skills allows work to be carried out with reduced personnel requirements and thereby limits the need for additional contractor interfaces.

For clients, this means reduced downtime, efficient project delivery, and the assurance that critical structural, mechanical and maintenance tasks are completed to the highest technical standards—even in the most demanding locations.

Many congratulations to all three who have successfully earned their welding certification, demonstrating both their technical capability and the company’s ongoing commitment to developing industry‑leading talent.
