A common issue experienced with industrial chimney inspection and maintenance projects is the fact that inspections typically occur when the chimney is off-line. This approach typically prevents adequate planning in advance which is essential for a successful maintenance outage.

While it is possible to anticipate potential issues based on previous inspection findings, any unexpected issues that arise can have an impact on the outage duration or extent of maintenance carried out. Being able to accurately assess the condition of internal lining prior to a maintenance outage allows sufficient time to consider access, resources and materials for a fixed-duration outage. Zenith understands the challenges faced by our clients and we closely cooperate with each client to provide a bespoke solution.

In response to on-going inspection requirements, we have invested extensively in innovative research and development excellence to design, build and test our unique ‘Hot Camera’ permitting inspections to take place whilst the chimney is on-line.

Zenith’s ‘Hot Camera’ technology enables safe assessment of the chimney internal lining whilst the chimney remains online. Heavily insulated, our camera can be lifted into the gas stream using a bespoke lifting davit, designed by Zenith engineers and built, tested, and operated by Zenith on-site specialists. Our ‘Hot Camera’ is lowered into the chimney, allowing for both camera and video inspections on four elevations. Additionally, an additional camera/video is positioned in the base of the camera unit thereby ascertaining the lining shape vertically.
